Fan-tails (genus)
The fantail is a genus of passerine birds from the fantail family.
Most species are 15 to 18 cm long and specialize in catching flying insects.
The main area of distribution of fantail is the South Pacific Ocean. New Zealand is home to three endemic subspecies of the gray fantail R. fuliginosa. The white-fronted fan-tailed R. aureola is common in India, Southeast Asia, and southern China. Australia is also home to the red-fronted fantail R. rufifrons and the black-and-white fantail R. leucophrys, which, with a body length of 23 cm, is one of the largest fan-tails and hunts, along with flying insects, also for prey on earth.
